Art Show 2013 & 2012

In 2013 & 2012 Adelle organized an art show for all Perspective Art Studio students to show their art alongside of 20 local established artists.  The art show was a fund raiser with proceeds going to Childrens Wish in 2013 and SPCA in 2012.  Local restaurants such as The Black Spoon, The Lobster Pound & Moore and The Waterside Cafe joined in offering samples of their food by donation to the charity.  Local musicans such as Johnathan MacInnis, Bernie MacCuish and Cyrus Orkish also joined in playing live music for the event.  A huge thanks to all who participated, especially to The Department of Agriculture who was kind enough to allow us to use their venue for the events.

Lumiere 2013

This is a night art event held in downtown Sydney, Nova Scotia.  For our first year involved in Lumiere the youth students created a living comic strip inspired by "The Far Side" by Gary Larson.  The students worked very hard to paint the background for each comic and then they made costumes for themselves of bugs.  They became part of the comic strip.  Here are some preparation and event pictures.

North Sydney Santa Clause Parade November 2014

The youth students built a card board toy train with wheels and entered it into the Christmas Parade.

Lumiere 2014

This is a night art event held in downtown Sydney, Nova Scotia.  For our second year involved in Lumiere the youth students kept a list of all the funny things they said in art class all year.  These were a random grouping of statements, but its what art is to the students, its all about FUN!  So we discussed what else art meant to them and they came up with a list of words representing art to them.  The students then spelled out the words using their bodies.  They did this to pieces of music that they felt matched each word.  This was a very fun filled, high energy event and all the students and spectators loved it!  Here are some preparation and event pictures.

Lumiere 2015

This is a night art event held in downtown Sydney, Nova Scotia.  For our third year involved in Lumiere the youth students of Perspective Art Studio took over an alley way in downtown Sydney addressing the debate of is graffiti vandalism or is it art.  The students made large graffiti paintings which were attached to the walls of the alley way to look like graffiti.  The students then dressed up as different sides of the argument; the police, graffiti artist, a reporter and angry citizens.  Our reporter interviewed the audience on their thoughts while the graffiti artists attempted to paint graffiti art without being arrested by our police.  All the while our angry citizens told the graffiti artists to stop painting their walls.  This was a very fun filled, high energy event and all the students and spectators loved it!  Here are some event pictures.

Lumiere 2016

This is a night art event held in downtown Sydney, Nova Scotia.  For our fourth year involved in Lumiere the youth students created a project they called Colors of the Century.  There were 10 different murals 7x8ft in size which they painted as their background for their performance.  Each mural was based on the decades over the past 100 years beginning with the 1920's through to the 2010's.  The predominant color palette of each decade was used to paint each mural.  The subject matter of each was based on the relevant events that took place in the world during that era.  The students then dressed in period clothes from the decade and danced to music from that time.  This was a very large project filled with fun and high energy.  It was a hit with both students and spectators!  Here are some preparation and event pictures.

Catwalk Show of Art 2016

This is a night art event held at Center200 in  Sydney, Nova Scotia.  The students dedicated their paintings from the 2016 Lumiere event to the Feral and Abandoned Cat Society for auction.  During the auction some of the students painted a painting which was also auctioned off.  The students were able to help raise money for a good cause and had fun doing it!
